A radical rethink and upgrade of back stage areas at the home of the iconic musical Les Miserables. Works at the II* listed theatre included creation of new dressing rooms; new sanitary facilities; re-planning the substage area to deliver an effective stage trap, workshops, and production team offices; new infrastructure for communications, IT/ media installations and future cooling units; creation of new habitable areas in found spaces; replacement of the dock door with improved safe access and acoustic insulation; and an upgraded and enlarged Stage Door area. A palette of hard-wearing, characterful materials were chosen to give the back stage a feeling of quality appropriate to the project vision.
The project involved close collaboration with operating and production team as well as the owner client.
